Are the New York Jets firmly entrenched in must-win territory already? The general consensus spits out an answer that strictly leans on the Stone Cold Steve Austin side of, “Oh, hell yes.”

Although they won’t have Haason Reddick until Week 8, Aaron Rodgers takes his 2-4 Jets on the road to face the 4-2 Pittsburgh Steelers, this time led by Russell Wilson.

Jets-Steelers Odds

Despite riding a three-game losing streak, the New York Jets are interestingly a 1.5-point road favorite. Not even the terrible towels, Carrie Underwood and Donald Trump could change that line.

  • New York Jets -1.5 (-110) at Pittsburgh Steelers
  • Pittsburgh Steelers +1.5 (-110) vs. New York Jets
  • New York Jets -130 moneyline at Pittsburgh Steelers
  • Pittsburgh Steelers +110 moneyline vs. New York Jets
  • Jets-Steelers Over-Under Point Total: 39.5 (O -105, U -115)

Jets-Steelers Best

Under 39.5 Points

Listen, any NFL game to burst out into an offensive bonanza, but this one is perfectly suited to remain low-scoring.

Anytime the Jets are involved, bet the under. Throw in the fact that this is Russell Wilson’s first game of the season, and the Steelers offense shouldn’t be expected to tear it up from the jump.

I would generally have faith in an Aaron Rodgers-led offense that now has Davante Adams in the fold, but the Steelers’ defense deserves respect. How the Jets handle T.J. Watt looms large.

Davante Adams Over 4.5 Receptions

Sure, Davante Adams jumping right into an NFL offense should have some sort of learning curve, generally speaking, but this is anything but the general situation.

The Jets’ offense is specific to Aaron Rodgers, which means Adams should enjoy moderate success from the start.

Couple that idea with the Steelers’ defense usually being tough on outside receivers, and the Jets’ new weapon should enjoy a solid first game—while mainly operating out of the slot.

Najee Harris Anytime TD Scorer +140

New York isn’t great against the run. Although the Jets’ 124.2 defensive rushing yards per game rank them in the middle of the pack (17th), it feels so much worse on the game tape.

Opposing offenses usually come out flying, taking big chunks with their lead horse. Unless Jeff Ulbrich hit all the right notes in the game plan for this week, expect Najee Harris to have success early in this one, and hope he crosses the goal line just once.

Jets-Steelers Injuries

Each team is dealing with injury issues. Worse yet, the Jets will be without one of their most productive players.

Starting slot cornerback Michael Carter II will miss his second straight game with a back injury. Unfortunately, he could joined by D.J. Reed, who’s played tremendously as of late but did not practice on Friday.

Jets Injury Report

  • Michael Carter II, CB: Out (Back)
  • D.J. Reed, CB: Questionable (Groin)
  • Tyler Conklin, TE: Questionable (Hip)
  • Chazz Surratt, LB: Questionable (Heel)

Steelers Injury Report

  • Zach Frazier, OL: Out (Ankle)
  • Nick Herbig, LB: Out (Hamstring)
  • Dylan Cook, OL: Out (Foot)
  • Cordarrelle Patterson, RB: Out (Ankle)
  • Montravius Adams, DT: Questionable (Knee)
  • Roman Wilson, WR: Questionable (Hamstring)
