The New York Jets were overmatched from the start in a 30-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, dropping to 0-2 on the season.

Following the embarrassing defeat, quarterback Tyrod Taylor addressed the offenseโ€™s struggles and what went wrong on the offensive front when speaking with reporters.

“From an offensive perspective, we kept our defense on the field too long, too many quick drives early on, and I think they [Buffalo] benefited from that,” said Taylor.

Justin Fields left Sundayโ€™s loss after taking a brutal hit that placed him in concussion protocol, turning the offense over to Taylor.

Taylor delivered the Jetsโ€™ only signs of life, flat-out outperforming the starter by completing 7 of 11 passes (64%) for 56 yards and their lone touchdown, and adding 21 rushing yards on three carries.

Fields, meanwhile, turned in a dismal outing. He went just 3 of 11 (27%) for 27 yards, looking lost before his exit. Though he picked up 49 yards on the ground, his passing performance was a far cry from his strong Week 1 showing and a significant setback after a breakout performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1.

With Fields sidelined in concussion protocol, speculation has run rampant about who will start in Week 3. On Wednesday, head coach Aaron Glenn stamped Taylor as the starter against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in South Florida as the Jets continue their search for their first win of the season.

With Fields concussed and ineffective, Taylor may be the better option in Week 3, a must-win matchup against the Bucs that could define the Jets’ 2025 season after a rough 0-2 start.
