Best prop bets for New York Jets vs. Detroit Lions

The New York Jets are looking to stay in the thick of the AFC’s wild card race when they host the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Zach Wilson will get the start for the Jets as Mike White will not be cleared for contact by game time. Detroit has won five of its last six games and is one of the hottest teams in the league.

Let’s jump into our best prop bets for Jets vs. Lions.

Garrett Wilson receiving yards: Over 75 (+175)

We have been betting on Garrett Wilson all season in multiple different ways. He has taken the next step in his development in the last few weeks as his receiving yards prop has gone over in five of the last six games. In those six games, he is averaging 92 yards per game, which is good for over 1,500 yards in a 17-game season.

Detroit’s defense is a very favorable matchup for Wilson. Although they have been getting better recently, the Lions’ defense is still one of the worst in the league when it comes to stopping the pass. They rank 30th in the league allowing 263.4 passing yards per game and have had trouble slowing down No. 1 wide receivers all year.

With Corey Davis being ruled out, Wilson should get plenty of touches to create yards after the catch. Anytime Wilson touches the ball, he can take it the length of the field with his explosiveness and ability to make guys miss.

Even with Zach Wilson starting, I still think Garrett Wilson reaches his over prop as he has another big day.

Detroit Lions team total: under 21.5 (-115)

The Jets’ defense has been one of the league’s biggest surprises so far this season. They were historically bad last year and looked like a unit that would take years to fix. However, in just one offseason, the Jets have built one of the best defenses in the league, which is led by young stars throughout the unit.

The Jets’ defense ranks third in the NFL in yards per game allowed at 301.2. They rank fourth in the NFL in passing yards per game at 189.4 and sixth in the league in points per game at just 18.7. This defense has carried them to a winning record so far in 2022 and looks to push them to their first playoff appearance in more than a decade.

The Lions have a really strong offense and can beat you running or throwing the ball. I think the Jets’ defense matches up well with them as they can slow down the pass as well as any team in the league.

Also, the weather could help slow down the Lions. Detroit is a dome team, which is easier to play in than dealing with the elements. According to TruMedia, Jared Goff is 4-4-1 with 6 touchdowns and 7 interceptions when the temperature is below 40 degrees.

I think the Jets’ defense shows up Sunday giving the Jets a chance to get a massive win.
