Carolina Panthers @ Chicago Bears

The Carolina Panthers started the season looking like a surefire bet to be the worst team in the NFL over their first two games. This prompted rookie head coach Dave Canales to make a quarterback change, inserting journeyman quarterback Andy Dalton into the starting role.

Through two games with Dalton, the Panthers look like a much better football team. They are 1-1 with a +4 point differential after going 0-2 with a -60 point differential under Bryce Young.

Dalton has the Panthers’ offense moving the ball efficiently. In two games with Dalton, the Panthers are averaging 406 yards and 30 points per game. Not only are they throwing the ball well, but they are also averaging 143 yards on the ground in Dalton’s two starts.

I do not think the Bears are very good. They should be 1-3 if it weren’t for the Titans and Will Levis giving the game away in Week 1. The Bears’ offense has been pretty abysmal the last four weeks. They rank 30th in yards per game, 26th in passing yards per game, and 28th in rushing yards per game.

I expect these trends to continue as the Panthers will keep this game close.

The play: Carolina Panthers +4

Baltimore Ravens @ Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals started the season in the worst way imaginable. In Week 1, they lost outright to the New England Patriots as more than a touchdown favorite. They then lost a thriller to the Kansas City Chiefs on a last-second field goal. The Bengals followed up an 0-2 start by losing at home to the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football. Finally, they beat the Carolina Panthers to get their first win of the season.

I think the Bengals are a much better team than their record shows. This is a team that was viewed as capable of winning the AFC North and making a deep run in the playoffs. They have had some key injuries, but the team is still loaded with stars.

I expect the Bengals to be the more desperate team this week. If they start 1-4, their season is basically over. Cincinnati looked much more like the Bengals we are used to in Week 4. They scored 34 points and had 373 total yards in a road win.

I anticipate the public to be all over the Ravens in this game, so I will gladly jump on the home underdogs.

The play: Cincinnati Bengals: +2.5
