- ❗️Denotes NFL stat leader
The 2023 New York Jets stats are now a complete wild card thanks to a single play. With Aaron Rodgers now set to miss the entire season with a ruptured Achilles, NFL pundits everywhere are wondering how it’ll impact the offense— particularly in the case of youngsters like Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall.
Jets offense sputters in Dallas
Other than a 68-yard touchdown strike from Zach Wilson to Garrett Wilson, there wasn’t much to speak of from a New York Jets offensive perspective.
Perhaps the most telling issue was the fact that the Cowboys nearly doubled up the Jets in total plays (83 to 46) in the 30-10 disappointment of a contest.
Even worse was the Jets’ defense that could not get off the field and allowed Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb to dink and dunk them to death.
Week 1 was all about the defense and rushing attack
The two most impressive pieces to the New York Jets’ 22-16 overtime victory over the Buffalo Bills were the defensive performance and rushing attack, led by Breece Hall and Dalvin Cook.
Garrett Wilson finished with 34 yards and a clutch touchdown on five receptions. Meanwhile, Breece Hall went for 127 yards on just 10 carries.
Zach Wilson threw a terrible interception, but his final line turned out to be workmanlike: 14-21, 140 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
New York Jets stats for the 2022 NFL season revolved around a talented roster operating without production at the quarterback position.
The good news came in the form of Garrett Wilson, Sauce Gardner, and Robert Saleh’s defense which finished fourth in total yards allowed. The bad news is led by the league’s 29th-ranked offense.
The 2022 version of the New York Jets stats built upon what 2021 started—in every spot other than quarterback, of course. This year (2023) should showcase a giant leap forward, as what Aaron Rodgers can do for the youth around him will be a major storyline.
