Joe Douglas and the New York Jets select Louisville offensive tackle Mekhi Becton 11th overall in the 2020 NFL draft.
Months and months of speculation have come and gone, and now, Joe Douglas and the New York Jets finally have their guy.
With the 11th overall selection in the 2020 NFL draft, the Jets select Louisville offensive tackle Mekhi Becton.
Becton, 21, was the third offensive tackle off the board. The New York Giants made Georgia’s Andrew Thomas the fourth overall pick and the Cleveland Browns snagged Alabama’s Jedrick Wills Jr. just one spot prior to the Jets.
Douglas decided to go with the big boy over Iowa’s Tristan Wirfs, the offensive tackle who really wowed folks with his physical attributes at the combine. Becton, himself, didn’t perform too shabby either (running a 5.1-second 40-yard dash at his massive size).
Mekhi Becton, born in a Virginia town right down the road from a town Joe Douglas grew up in, is the newest New York Jets employee.
This is good news for the Jets! He’s a beast and if he keeps himself in good condition, (during covid…) He will perform 👌👌 Question – apart from WR, what other major gap do we need to fill in the OL
364 pounds , 6’7, and 21 years of age.
It worries me, but there’s no chance I can ever knock this pick (no matter the end result).
