There isn’t a more popular jersey than the No. 80 Wayne Chrebet version in New York Jets history.
Even today, a significant portion of the MetLife Stadium crowd features No. 80 jerseys—close to two decades after his unfortunate retirement.
Chrebet wasn’t the fastest wideout, and he wasn’t the tallest, but his grit and determination forced an entire fanbase to fall in love with his gritty and underdog ways.
Hailing from Garfield, NJ, Chrebet played 11 seasons for the Jets. His 580 receptions and 7,365 receiving yards place him among the best at the wide receiver position in franchise history.
These days, he’s one-half of The Underdog Jets Podcast with Jet X co-founder Robby Sabo.
