New York Jets young quarterback Sam Darnold was spotted throwing from a near-impossible body angle with Jordan Palmer.
The NFL king is as clear as day. Mr. Patrick Mahomes is the quarterback king in the category of throwing from ridiculous body angles and arm positions.
Obviously, there are others (here’s looking at you, Aaron Rodgers), but more than ever, these young quarterbacks can throw on the run and release the ball from incredible positions guys decades ago couldn’t dare dream of executing.
One such young quarterback who’s surely climbing up the ranks in this regard is New York Jets‘ Sam Darnold, whose abilities allow him to pull off athletic feats such as these but also get him into trouble at times (bad footwork, throwing from an open stance too often, etc.).
On Tuesday, quarterback coach Jordan Palmer—who Darnold’s been working with this offseason—released a quick video that showcased Darnold’s skills:

Darnold, 23, is looking forward to his third NFL season, one that will finally grant him the opportunity to play behind a legitimate offensive line. He’s played 13 games in each of his first two seasons. As a rookie, he dealt with injury while last year, of course, he came down with a bout of mono.
The California kid threw 19 touchdowns to 13 interceptions to go along with 3,024 yards on a 61.9 completion percentage for Adam Gase in 2019. The entire Jets organization is hoping Joe Douglas’s offensive line additions, Breshad Perriman, Denzel Mims, a healthy Chris Herndon will allow Darnold to fully break out in 2020.
