Hager, 28, was signed to the practice squad in late September and has dressed in each of the last two games. With Avery Williamson now making his professional career in Pittsburgh, Gregg Williams’s need for an inside linebacker was urgent.
Jackson, 29, is a Hazlet, NJ native who also dressed in two games for New York this season. The sixth-round selection of the New York Giants in 2014 played five games for the Los Angeles Rams last year.
The Jets also signed outside linebacker Sharif Finch, defensive back Elijah Campbell and and defensive back Saquon Hampton to the practice squad.
Interior offensive lineman Jimmy Murray has been released and wide receiver D.J. Montgomery has been placed on practice squad IR.

The Jets have since signed center Jimmy Murray to the practice squad.
