Josh McCown can’t get enough of Sam Darnold’s new ‘Angry Runs’ look

Former New York Jets quarterback Josh McCown can’t get enough of Sam Darnold‘s new “Angry Runs” look and persona.

Josh McCown no longer plays for the New York Jets, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t still locked in.

The veteran quarterback who played two seasons in New Jersey recently updated his Twitter profile picture to something he just couldn’t resist.

Sam Darnold in the “Angry Runs” t-shirt now graces McCown’s profile.

Darnold, 23, was awarded the “Angry Runs” crown for Week 16 after he effectively ran over Cleveland Browns linebacker Malcolm Smith.

While it won’t remind anybody of Earl Campbell anytime soon, Darnold’s lowering of the boom had Jets fans and social media buzzing. To be honest, I had no idea what “Angry Runs” even meant. The last NFL TV gimmick I remember is “Jacked Up!” on ESPN.

Nonetheless, the “Angry Runs” segment is alive and well, as NFL Network’s Kyle Brandt clearly demonstrated earlier this week.

As each recipient of the scepter usually does, Darnold had no problem in modeling the shirt following his “Angry Runs” victory.

Darnold threw for 175 yards and two touchdowns to no interceptions on 16 of 32 passing in the Jets’ 23-20 victory over the Browns this past Sunday. For the second-consecutive week, the USC product didn’t make too many mistakes and did just enough to lead his team to victory.

New York Jets, Jets X-Factor

Of course, once upon a time, McCown played a key role in Darnold’s early development. The two were teammates back in 2018. Today, McCown is retired, but he played for the Philadelphia Eagles last year after signing a deal to work for ESPN.

Always the jubilant veteran quarterback, Josh McCown once again endeared himself to Jets fans everywhere with this Sam Darnold profile picture move.
