Mekhi Becton, Quinnen Williams, Jets players react to Robert Saleh hire

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - SEPTEMBER 13: San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh talks into his Bose radio headset during the NFL game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Arizona Cardinals on September 13, 2020, at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Mekhi Becton, Quinnen Williams and other New York Jets players could not contain their excitement over Robert Saleh coming to town.

Score one for the New York Jets. Francisco Lindor, James Harden, DJ LeMahieu and now Robert Saleh—New York sports is having one heck of a week. And the New York Jets capped it on Thursday night in grand style.

Jets fans are still elated over the hire—a stark contrast to what happened two years ago. What’s even more encouraging than the hire itself are the reactions coming from players.

Left tackle Mekhi Becton got the party started:

Young Quinnen Williams joined in on the excitement as well:

Another defensive lineman, John Franklin-Myers, also can’t wait to get to work with his new head coach:

Running back Ty Johnson added a little flavor as well:

Even Jets X-Factor itself knew the Jets fan needed one in the worst way, and they got it in the form of the Saleh news:

Joe Douglas and Christopher Johnson set out to find the right head coach this time around. They found a head coach, not in title only, but rather by the way he conducts himself in all facets of his job.

By all accounts, Saleh is the energy guy who’ll oversee everything Jets football. One of his guys, cornerback Richard Sherman, relayed an encouraging message to Jets fans upon hearing the news:

San Francisco 49ers kicker Robbie Gould even got in on the action:

Robert Saleh becomes the 20th head coach in New York Jets history.

Im happy with the hire but till they win im not sucking myself into another Jet let down. But i will say this much… Football decisions being made by football guys is a sign of relief we all been asking for so long and it has not been that way since Bill Parcells… That you can get behind 100 percent

Yo… pfft. Great job on that stone cold saleh, best gif ive seen in a while. So hyped! This is how its supposed to feel getting a new hc. Even if he doesnt work out to be the best ever, he’s enough to return to us that hope thats supposed to be intrinsic to all sports teams.
