The #TakeFlight hashtag is back where it belongs after a WNBA mixup

The New York Jets didn’t maintain much from the Adam Gase era. Their official social media hashtag, however, appears to be a rare exception.

Jets fans looking to decorate their gridiron tweets with their favorite team’s logo will use the Twitter tag #TakeFlight for the third consecutive season.

The NFL unveiled the tags that trigger a logo on Thursday, hours before the defending champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the Dallas Cowboys in the first official game of the 2021 season (8:20 p.m. ET, NBC).

Gang Green retains logo activation to the hashtag, having “loaned” them out to the WNBA’s Dallas Wings.

The two teams previously settled the light-hearted controversy when the latter’s season tipped off in May. The Jets continued to use the hashtag in their bio, complete with the Wings’ Pegasus-like logo but made clear that they “only stan” the New York Liberty—the metropolitan WNBA squad that plays its home games at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Dallas, which is scheduled to host the Liberty on Saturday night in a game crucial for WNBA playoff positioning (8 p.m. ET, WNBA League Pass), thanked the Jets for sharing the hashtag in a tongue-in-cheek manner.

Echoing the Jets’ declaration, however, they reiterated their loyalty to the local Cowboys. Wings fans can still trigger a logo with the tag #DallasWings.

All hashtag-triggered logos can be found here.

The Jets’ 2021 season will take flight (pun intended) on Sunday afternoon in Charlotte against the Carolina Panthers (1 p.m. ET, CBS).
