New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson sends some well-deserved love Alijah Vera-Tucker’s way on Instagram

On Monday afternoon, the New York Jets showcased rookie guard Alijah Vera-Tucker in a tremendous yet correctly light.

Referencing a Pro Football Focus (PFF) grade that had him as the highest-graded offensive lineman in Week 5 (prior to Monday Night Football), the Jets ensure that the team’s second first-round pick in the 2021 NFL draft received some love.

Not only did the organization and fans agree with the move, but apparently, so did the franchise’s fresh new face, Zach Wilson.

Shortly after the Jets added this to their Instagram Story, Wilson reposted it to his own Instagram Story and added in his own little caption:

“The scary part is he’s getting better each week … imagine week 17,” the BYU product said of his highly-drafted teammate.

They say a quarterback should be best friends with his offensive linemen. Apparently, Wilson and Vera-Tucker have that part of it down.

After all, the big heavies who rarely get the respect they deserve are responsible for keeping quarterbacks upright. To see the 22-year-old Wilson grasping this truth so early in his NFL is a highly encouraging sign.

The Jets look to have a rock-solid left side of their offensive line between Vera-Tucker and left tackle Mekhi Becton. With Vera-Tucker playing this well so early into his career, Wilson would be smart to continue showing appreciation like this for his fellow first-rounder.

New York Jets, Jets X-Factor

The 1-4 New York Jets are currently away from the Florham Park facility via bye week. They’ll look to right the ship when they take on the New England Patriots up north in Week 7.
