Zach Wilson took to Twitter to express tongue-in-cheek frustration with the bye week

A mandated vacation from the NFL? True to form, Zach Wilson will pass.

As the NFL kicked off the afternoon portion of its Week 6 slate with the involvement of his New York Jets, Wilson showed just how much he has adjusted to working on Sundays. Wilson took to Twitter to unleash some mock frustration.

The 22-year-old Wilson’s professional career has gotten off to a rocky start. He leads the NFL with nine interceptions while his Jets offense ranks 32nd in scoring with 13.4 points per game.

Despite Wilson’s reluctance to take a break, head coach Robert Saleh felt that the days off would serve as a needed metal decompression for Wilson and the rest of the young Jets.

“During the week (we tell him), ‘Dude, go home. Enough is enough’,” Saleh said, per notes from the Jets.

“There’s always going to be a balance and he’s going to find it. He’s got to find his way, he’s got to find his routine, he’s got to find his study habits, he’s got to understand how to filter what he’s seeing on tape, what’s important versus what’s not, and just trust the game plan, trust the reps, let it rip, just like he does in the second half.”

Wilson will only have to wait a week more to get back on a game field. The Jets (1-4) return to action next Sunday afternoon against the New England Patriots (1 p.m. ET, CBS).
