New York Jets commemorate Veteran’s Day on ‘Flight Cam’ (Video)

The New York Jets send special thanks to the nation’s veterans

The New York Jets set aside their usual “Flight Cam” antics on Thursday to commemorate the observation of Veteran’s Day prior to their continued preparation for Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills (1 p.m. ET, CBS).

The Flight Cam, set up just outside the entrance to the practice on 1 Jets Drive, is normally reserved for laughs and icebreaker questions. But Thursday’s group instead sent thank-yous to the men and women representing the United States military.

Linebacker Del’Shawn Phillips notes that, without their efforts, staging NFL football games would be an impossibility.

“To the men and women fighting for us so we can enjoy days like this, and freedom, appreciate you,” receiver Braxton Berrios adds.

With a salute, running back Tevin Coleman declares “We love y’all, we support y’all, we thank y’all.”

Sunday will mark the Jets’ Salute to Service game, part of the NFL’s yearly commemoration of military endeavors.

Fittingly, New York recently added West Point alum and safety Elijah Riley off Philadelphia’s practice squad.

The Port Jefferson, N.Y. native tallied 201 tackles and seven interceptions over four seasons as a Black Knight. He notably earned two takeaways as a freshman in an overtime win over North Texas at the 2016 Heart of Dallas Bowl, the first of three consecutive seasons with a postseason triumph for Army football, the first such streak in program history.

New York last played on Veteran’s Day in 2018, taking on the Bills at MetLife Stadium just as they will this time around. With rookies Sam Darnold and Josh Allen sidelined, Matt Barkley led a 41-10 victory over Josh McCown’s Jets.
