Zach Wilson and Braxton Berrios praise each other’s games with matching shirts

For the New York Jets, bringing back free-agent wide receiver Braxton Berrios had to do with a lot more than simply his on-field abilities. Berrios is a close friend of quarterback Zach Wilson, so it was a smart move for New York to focus on preserving their franchise player’s comfort and chemistry with his offensive teammates.

Jets fans who follow Wilson and Berrios on social media are consistently reminded of the duo’s tremendous friendship.

On Saturday, Wilson took to Twitter and re-posted a picture that features him and Berrios wearing corresponding T-shirts. Wilson’s white shirt plainly states, “Braxton Berrios is good”, while Berrios’ green shirt states, “Zach Wilson is good”.

Wilson and Berrios’ off-field brotherhood is an extension of the on-field synergy they displayed near the end of the 2021 season. The two always seemed to be on the same page, bringing out the best in one another.

After Wilson returned from a four-game absence in Week 12, Berrios finished the season with 238 receiving yards over his final six games (39.7 per game), which stands as his career-best total over a six-game span. That was a substantial improvement over the 193 receiving yards he accumulated across his first 10 games of the season (19.3 per game).

During Wilson’s improved finish to the year, he had his best success when targeting Berrios. From Week 12 onward, Wilson had a passer rating of 106.7 when targeting Berrios, which was his best rating when targeting any Jets wide receiver over that span.

This is hysterical. This exhibits next level comedy in the face of the NY negativity storm. Zach Wilson gets my respect from this. It shows that he can be himself with the crushing pressure of being a rookie Jets qb who had a bad season. This is a strong dude who loves life. We need more of this fresh perspective on how wonderful life is in Jet land! Good on ya Zach!
