The comeback is on in East Rutherford
Is a quarterback controversy brewing in New York?
Two New York Jets preseason heroes united for the biggest play of Monday’s exhibition snoozer against the Atlanta Falcons, with Chris Streveler finding Laurence Cager for a 34-yard score that shrank the Atlanta Falcons’ lead to 16-10 in the conclusion to Week 2 of the 2022 NFL preseason.

After a weary first half for a Jets team that has opted to rest most of their starters, Streveler took the field and moved the Jets 74 yards in eight plays and just over four minutes. The pair united for 57 yards on Gang Green’s second drive of the second half, with Cager also earning a 23-yard tally that picked up a first down.
Both Streveler and Cager have become slight Jets folk heroes of sorts thanks to their summer endeavors. The former, previously of the CFL and the Arizona Cardinals, led the Jets to a come-from-behind victory in Philadelphia last week, completing 6-of-9 passes with two of them going to scores. Cager, on the other hand, has been a veteran of several Jets camps and came into this edition as a tight end, eschewing the receiver label that followed from a collegiate career at Miami and Georgia.
With Zach Wilson hurt, the Jets opted to hold presumed Week 1 starting quarterback Joe Flacco out of Monday’s game entirely. Mike White played the first half, completing 12-of-17 passes for 90 yards. Streveler enters the fourth quarter completing 7-of-8 passes for 108 yards with 2 rushes for 21 yards.
Atlanta continues to lead New York 16-10 in the third quarter.
