The Jets linebacker landed quite a wallop and forced a fumble
There are few things better than seeing a big-hit fumble in American football — the booming crack of pads colliding, the reverberating “oooooooh” from the crowd, the sight of the football launching out in some random direction as bodies everywhere pounce on it like wild dogs.
In the New York Jets third preseason game on Sunday against the New York Giants, fans in attendance were treated to just that, courtesy of Mr. Kwon Alexander, the newest Jets linebacker who was signed to a one-year deal at the end of July.
On first down and 10 from their own 32 yard-line, the Giants snapped the ball and handed off to running back Antonio Williams. The poor guy didn’t stand a chance against the 227-pound Alexander.

The Jets sideline understandably got fired up following the massive hit. The broadcast camera switches to Jordan Whitehead at one point, who can be seen screaming and punching the air as other Jets and coaches celebrate around him as well.
Alexander has 10 regular-season forced fumbles over his seven seasons in the NFL, so if this is any indicator, fans can expect more hits like this out of him in the months to come.
The Giants were able to recover the fumble forced by Alexander’s bone-crushing hit, but needless to say, Williams will likely think twice about running in his direction in the future.
