The Dallas Cowboys are known for their fanbase all over the world, especially around the United States. They’re ‘America’s Team’ for a reason, even if they haven’t had the playoff success to show for it in recent years. Gen Xers saw the Cowboys on TV every week even as their own games were blacked out, and millennials saw the Cowboys’ Super Bowls under Troy Aikman.
The Jets’ stadium-mates in East Rutherford, the Giants, are also known to have fans everywhere. Not the Jets, though.
This culture built under Robert Saleh makes the Jets more relevant than they’ve been since Rex Ryan manned the sideline. There’s legitimate talent on the team, especially at the exciting skill positions. The Jets actually have fantasy-relevant players, too, making the casual fan more apt to pay attention to them.
As people scramble to pick up Garrett Wilson in fantasy and wonder whether Joe Flacco can continue to put up his own fantasy numbers, Jets fans celebrate the birth of an offense that they could only dream about a few months ago. And it’s just beginning.
With the Bengals coming to MetLife Stadium next week, there will be a raucous crowd that legitimately expects their team to win. Looking ahead, Pittsburgh is also looking like a winnable game. Robert Saleh is taking receipts from those who picked the Jets to start 0-7 or 1-8.
This team is determined to prove that they’re not the Same Old Jets. If they can ride this momentum into another victory next week, the Jets will pick up some more fans both locally and nationally.
