Carter’s score was critical for the Jets following a missed field goal

New York Jets running back Michael Carter added insult to injury during New York’s 40-17 trampling over the Miami Dolphins. He hit a Miami player’s signature touchdown celebration after scoring midway through the fourth quarter.

Following a missed field goal that would’ve given the Dolphins a one-point lead, the Jets found themselves at their own 44-yard line, looking for a touchdown to widen their advantage.

A 21-yard strike by quarterback Zach Wilson to receiver Corey Davis started the drive, and another 21-yard catch a few plays later, this time by rookie running back Breece Hall, had the Jets knocking on the door at the Miami one-yard line.

On the next play, Carter finished off the drive and squirmed his way into the end zone, then broke out a familiar celebration for the Dolphins’ defense.

After the score, Carter started mimicking a penguin and waddled in place with his arms at his sides, the signature celebration of Miami receiver Jaylen Waddle.

The Jets would continue to build their lead following Carter’s score, adding another two touchdowns, one by Hall and another by receiver Braxton Berrios, before the game was over.

Meanwhile, Waddle was held to only three catches for 23 yards on the day, his lowest receiving total of the season so far.

The Jets are 3-2 and riding high, charged with momentum ahead of next week’s road trip to Green Bay.

The Dolphins, however, will have a long, sad, waddle back to Miami before taking on the visiting Vikings.
