Former New York Jets and New England Patriots receivers will have a lot riding on Week 11’s game
The New York Jets-New England Patriots rivalry still burns hot in the hearts of former players.
On the CBS show “Inside The NFL”, former wide receivers Brandon Marshall and Julian Edelman went to bat for their old teams. Marshall, a former Jet, picked the Jets to win, while Edelman, a former Patriot, picked the Pats to win.
They didn’t stop at merely picking the winner. Marshall and Edelman also agreed on a wild bet: If the Jets win, Edelman has to get a Jets tattoo, and if the Patriots win, Marshall has to get a Patriots tattoo.
Brandon Marshall (@BMarshall) & Julian Edelman (@Edelman11) made a tattoo bet this week on the #Jets, #Patriots game. If NYJ wins, Jules is getting the #TakeFlight logo on him + if NE wins, BM is getting the #ForeverNE logo on him 😳: 🎥 @insidetheNFL #NYJvsNE @nyjets @Patriots pic.twitter.com/51IQ3P0cRb

“We still feel some type of way about Bill Belichick having that press conference and leaving the Jets. This is personal. This is serious.”, Marshall says.
Edelman asked Marshall where he is going to put his Patriots tattoo. Marshall instead pinpointed a spot on the right side of Edelman’s neck as the target for where his Jets tattoo will go.
Marshall played two seasons with the Jets from 2015 to 2016. He was a part of the last Jets team to defeat the Patriots, back in Week 16 of the 2015 season. Marshall caught eight passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns in the overtime win.
Edelman played all 12 of his NFL seasons with the Patriots (2009 to 2020), winning three Super Bowls in the process. He did not play in that late-2015 game. Edelman finished his career with an 8-game winning streak against the Jets and had a 14-4 record against them overall (including the 2010-11 playoff loss).
