Aaron Rodgers has an idea of when he’ll know what he’s doing in 2023

On Tuesday, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers made his weekly appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. As expected, the interview contained plenty of quotes that will be intriguing for New York Jets fans.

Most notably, Rodgers provided an estimated timetable for when he will make his decision on whether he wants to play football in 2023.

“I feel confident that in a couple weeks, I’ll feel definitely more strongly about one of two decisions,” Rodgers said.

This is fairly good news for Jets fans, who have been worried the saga could drag out all offseason. It appears Rodgers will make his decision on whether he wants to play football fairly quickly. How long everything else takes is a completely different story, but it does at least appear that Rodgers will not be holding the Packers (and Jets) hostage all offseason.

Rodgers says he cannot make a decision “until after the Super Bowl at the earliest”.

Another interesting quote involved Rodgers claiming there “are already conversations going on that aren’t involving me”. Rodgers labeled this as
“interesting”.

Rodgers heaped a ton of praise upon Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

“Love Hack. Hack’s my guy, and Megan and the kids, they’re really special to me. I think we really bonded when he was in Green Bay,” Rodgers said of Hackett and his family.

In other news, former Packers running back Jamaal Williams predicted Rodgers will end up with the Jets. Williams took handoffs from Rodgers in Green Bay for four seasons.

According to recent odds from PointsBet Sportsbook, Rodgers is currently the betting favorite to be the Jets’ Week 1 quarterback in 2023. Today’s events have only made the possibility seem even more likely.

I am truly confused as to how this is likely at all. The Jets have to know their cap situation by early March at absolute worst to formulate a plan for free agency. How can Rodgers’s cap hit be known by then?

Rodgers has to go to a team with a reasonable, but not unsurmountable, option at QB and a team that can wait without ruining it’s off-season plans. I want to say like New England, but they probably believe in Jones (not to mention foxboro is too small for Rodgers’s and belichek’s egos).
