Yes, Aaron Rodgers did speak with the New York Jets

Shortly after midnight on Tuesday morning, Trey Wingo (formerly of ESPN) reported that Aaron Rodgers had spoken with the New York Jets on Monday, claiming Rodgers is “open to the idea of going to NY”. Wingo was the only person to report this, and considering he has not been a consistent news source for quite a while now, Wingo’s report had to be taken with a grain of salt.

But on Tuesday morning, multiple Jets beat reporters confirmed Wingo’s report, stating Rodgers did in fact speak to the Jets.

Despite the confirmation of Rodgers speaking to the Jets, there still appears to be no word on Rodgers’ decision.

However, Connor Hughes reports that Rodgers’ decision is expected to come soon.

For Rodgers to speak with the Jets, the Packers had to have granted him permission to do so. Otherwise, it would be tampering on the Jets’ part. This is a sign that Green Bay is at least open to the idea of pursuing a trade for Rodgers.

Things are moving quickly. Derek Carr came off the board on Monday morning, signing with the Saints. We now know that Rodgers began conversations with the Jets at some point after the Carr news broke, with permission from the Packers. Something could go down soon.

It was at this point one year ago (March 8, 2022 – the final Tuesday before the opening of the legal tampering period) that Rodgers announced his decision to return to the Packers. With the 2023 legal tampering period set to open in just six days (March 13), the clock is ticking.

Great, the kiss of death. Just like “Carr is leaning towards the Jets.”
