Odell Beckham Jr. seen chatting with NY Jets brass

Odell Beckham Jr. apparently had a conversation in Arizona with New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas.

New York Jets clearly remain interested in OBJ

Free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. showed up with his agent at the NFL’s league meetings in Arizona. Immediately, speculation started brewing about whether he was there to speak with the New York Jets. NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo said it “wouldn’t be a shock” if Beckham spoke with New York.

As it turns out, Beckham did end up speaking with the Jets, at least to some degree. He was spotted chatting with head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas, according to reporters on site. In one photo, Beckham is seen hugging it out with Saleh.

It’s unclear whether Beckham and his agent sat down with the Jets for an official meeting in Arizona, but it seems the two sides at least touched base.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Jets owner Woody Johnson said that it is “really cool” for his team to be considered by a player of Beckham’s caliber.

Douglas also answered questions about Beckham while speaking to the media on Monday.

“I’ve had some productive conversations with Odell’s agents,” Douglas said. “He’s obviously a really talented player … we’ll see how that process plays out.”

The Jets’ wide receiver room experienced a significant shakeup last week, as Elijah Moore was traded to the Browns and Mecole Hardman was signed to a one-year deal. As it stands, the Jets’ wide receiver unit is led by Garrett Wilson, Corey Davis, Allen Lazard, Hardman, and Denzel Mims. Davis’ presence is worth noting, as he was seen by many as a likely cut or trade candidate, but he remains on the team as April approaches.
