All eyes are focused on the New York Jets and Aaron Rodgers
With Aaron Rodgers now a member of the New York Jets, the narrative around the team has quickly shifted. No longer the butt of jokes, people are taking the team seriously this season. That includes Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.
Speaking with Sports Illustrated‘s Robin Lundberg about being the new cover athlete for the latest edition of Madden, the 27-year-old signal caller also touched on his thoughts about the Jets – and Aaron Rodgers.
When asked if he was worried about the Jets this season, Allen didn’t hesitate to give respect to the new-look Jets. He also gave Rodgers his flowers in the process.
“Absolutely. They’re game one,” said Allen. “That’s the only team I’m worried about right now.”
Allen spoke about the respect he had for Rodgers while growing up.
“We gotta find a way to beat a lot of good quarterbacks in this league, and I’m a big fan of Aaron,” continued Allen. “I grew up such a big fan of him and I think he’s done so much for the game of football. I see a lot of quarterbacks that are younger throughout the league and a lot of his game that everyone tries to emulate. The off-platform stuff, the arm strength, the creativity with the ball placement. Some of the stuff that he does running around, too, sneaky athletic. But again, he’s one of the greatest to ever put the pads on.”
The Jets open the 2023 regular season against the Bills in a Monday night showdown at MetLife Stadium. It’s the first time since 2020 that the Jets will play on MNF – when the Joe Flacco-led Jets lost 27-30 to the Cam Newton-led Patriots.
Last year, the Jets and Bills split their regular season matchups with two close games. New York won 20-17 at MetLife Stadium while Buffalo evened the series with a 20-12 win at Highmark Stadium. Zach Wilson was under center for the victory while Mike White started in Buffalo.
This season, both sides are hoping for a different outcome. With Rodgers now the quarterback for the Jets, that will be easier said than done for Buffalo.
