New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers didn’t hesitate to call out his former teammate
Just because Aaron Rodgers is now the quarterback of the New York Jets, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t keep tabs on his former team.
Earlier this summer, Rodgers sent a welcome package to Green Bay Packers quarterback Sean Clifford, who was taken in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL draft and is the new owner of Rodgers’ locker. On Thursday, Rodgers made sure to take a subtle jab at his friend and former teammate David Bakhtiari.
The Jets’ quarterback posted an Instagram story of himself at Proactive Performance, a training facility in Los Angeles. Accompanying Rodgers in the photo are a plethora of athletes – to which Rodgers tagged his former teammate with, “where are you?”.
The Packers’ offensive tackle was quick to respond. Bakhtiari reposted Rodgers’ IG story on his own page. He captioned it with “too busy training and not posing for a photoshoot” – likely taking fun in the fact that the Jets quarterback has been seen practically everywhere since becoming the face of New York.
The future Hall of Famer was wise to his friend’s quip and added on himself. “Probably laying around getting fat,” Rodgers replied.
Despite the “trash talk”, it’s clear the jabs are in jest. Rodgers and Bakhtiari are close friends and have been together since 2013, when Bakhtiari was drafted by the Packers in the fourth round. The Packers’ OT gifted Rodgers a “tricked out” Aston Martin golf cart in 2021. And while Rodgers may no longer be under center in Lambeau, Bakhtiari has insisted that the friendship between the two will “last a lifetime”.
