The former Green Bay Packers receiver has hefty praise for Aaron Rodgers’ new No. 1 target
On Sunday, New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson made waves with a highlight-reel touchdown catch from Aaron Rodgers during a training camp practice session.
In what seemed like a broken play, Rodgers can be seen scrambling to the right before throwing a dart to Wilson, who makes an incredible toe-tapping catch in the endzone. The amazing snag was just the icing on the cake of what was a very productive day for 2022’s Offensive Rookie of the Year.

The play highlighted exactly why the Jets traded for the 39-year-old to be their starting quarterback. It also garnered the attention of Rodgers’ former partner-in-crime in Green Bay, Davante Adams, who Wilson has been compared to throughout the offseason.
The Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver took to Instagram to praise Rodgers’ new No. 1 target. Adams also included a prediction of what’s to come for opposing defenses this season, captioning the IG story with, “these 2 bouta act up this year”.
Adams knows a thing or two about being on the receiving end of a Rodgers pass. The Raiders wide receiver spent eight years with Rodgers in Green Bay en route to a plethora of All-Pros, Pro Bowls, and division titles.
The duo’s last season together saw Adams reach 1,553 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns with Rodgers winning the NFL MVP award. Overall, Adams finished his eight-year Packers career with 669 receptions for 8,121 yards and 73 touchdowns.
The Jets hope Wilson can live up to those standards as he prepares to take on a similar role in a Rodgers-led offense.
Speaking to the Jets’ official website, Rodgers didn’t hesitate to draw comparisons between the two players.
“Look, I love Davante, and I saw him this summer. He is in a category all by himself still,” Rodgers opened. “But, that 17 [Wilson] reminds me of the other 17 [Adams] as far as his ability to get in and out of breaks and his quick twitch at the line of scrimmage.”
Rodgers isn’t alone in that sentiment. Allen Lazard, another former Packers wide receiver, sees the similarities between Wilson and Adams as well.
“Garrett is incredible,” Lazard said. “I see a lot of resemblance to Davante. To me, Davante is the best in the league, hands down. But there are a lot of things they do as far as mannerisms, personality, abilities that resemble each other.”
