In addition to his AFC Player of the Week honors, New York Jets rookie Xavier Gipson has claimed another NFL award.

In addition to his AFC Player of the Week honors, Xavier Gipson has been named Pepsi’s Rookie of the Week.

The belt has returned home to Florham Park.

After an electrifying game-winning 62-yard punt return touchdown, New York Jets wide receiver Xavier Gipson has been announced as Pepsi’s first Rookie of the Week in 2023.

The award was dominated by the Jets last year, due to both high-level rookie performances and the overwhelming support Jets fans showed their players.

The Jets won 10 of the 18 Rookie of the Week belts in 2023. Garrett Wilson won four times, Sauce Gardner won three times, Breece Hall won twice, and Zonovan Knight won once.

The players did their part on the field, as Wilson, Hall, and Gardner all looked the part of future stars for the Jets last season. But more importantly for this award, Jets fans had the backs of their players, as the winner is chosen through an online poll that anybody can vote on.

On social media, Jets fans have rallied every time they see one of their players on the ballot, making sure to grab enough votes to win the award. This is why the award repeatedly returns to New Jersey.

After a season where the Jets dominated the Rookie of the Week award, Gipson has picked up right where last year’s rookies left off. The Jets may not have as deep of a rookie class as last season, but Gipson’s return skills will give the Jets a chance to grab a few more belts this year.
