According to a new report, the New York Jets are expected to resume their pursuit of Davante Adams this offseason

Prior to the New York Jets’ loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, a report surfaced that indicated their potential plans for 2024.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jets are expected to pursue adding superstar wide receiver Davante Adams in the offseason.

This is not the first time the Jets have been linked to the Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver. Before this season’s trade deadline, the Jets reached out to the Raiders in an attempt to acquire the superstar wide receiver.

The Jets’ interest in Adams is not surprising in the slightest. Outside of wide receiver Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall, the team is very lacking in skill-position talent. New York has relied too heavily on these two playmakers, and when Wilson or Hall have not been able to carry the Jets on their backs, the offense has gone nowhere.

By adding another elite playmaker like Adams, Hall and Wilson will have more room to operate and elevate the offense’s collective ceiling.

Furthermore, the Jets’ acquisition of Adams would reunite the receiver with his former quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Working with Rodgers in Green Bay, Adams racked up 669 receptions, 8,121 yards, and 73 touchdowns. He went over 1,300 yards three times and had five seasons of double-digit touchdowns, with his career-best being 18 in 2020.

Bringing Adams to New York would give Rodgers a dynamic duo of receivers, elevating not only the offense but the entire ceiling of the Jets.

The Jets do not necessarily need to acquire Adams to satisfy their need for another big-time playmaker. Whether it is Mike Evans, Tee Higgins, or an early-round pick in the draft, the Jets have various potential avenues to address their pressing need for more talent at wide receiver.

But considering his skill level and familiarity with the Jets’ star quarterback, Adams may be the best option to elevate the offense to the next level next season.
