Three Monday signers appeared in regular season action for the Jets this season

The New York Jets announced the signing of nine players to reserve/future contracts on Monday.

Such contracts more or less serve as an invite to training camp, giving teams a chance to pick up rights to those who do not appear on 53-man rosters at the end of the year.

OT Obinna Eze

Eze spent each of the last two preseasons with the Detroit Lions and was signed to the Jets’ practice squad in December after briefly appearing on the roster of the UFL’s Michigan Panthers.

OL Vitaliy Gurman

Gurman, formerly in Arizona’s system, was one of the newest members of the Jets’ practice squad, joining the team on Jan. 3.

CB Tae Hayes

Hayes is perhaps the most experienced name among the Monday signers. He has worked with nine different NFL teams since arriving in 2019 (including a one-game appearance with the Jets, where he picked up two tackles in the October win over Philadelphia) and won a USFL title with the Birmingham Stallions.

DL Manny Jones

The pass rusher Jones spent the 2023 season in Pittsburgh and New England’s systems before joining the Jets’ practice squad in December.

WR Lance McCutcheon

McCutcheon had been stationed on the Jets’ practice squad since October after spending the 2022 season with the Los Angeles Rams.

RB Jacques Patrick

The well-traveled Patrick previously backed up former Jet Dalvin Cook at Florida State and has been on and off the roster of nine different teams between the NFL and XFL.

K Austin Seibert

Seibert, a fifth-round pick of Cleveland’s in 2019, played one game for the Jets this season in place of an injured Greg Zuerlein, successfully converting a field goal and an extra point each during September’s visit to Dallas.

DE Marquiss Spencer

A seventh-round draft pick of Denver’s in 2021, Spencer played all four of the Jets’ preseason games before spending this year on their practice squad.

WR Malik Taylor

One of many former Packers who joined the Jets’ cause in anticipation of Aaron Rodgers’ takeover of the offense, Taylor earned two catches for 13 yards over three appearances.
