Raiders unwilling to trade Davante Adams to NY Jets (Report)

According to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Raiders are unwilling to trade Davante Adams to the New York Jets

As of this moment, the New York Jets will have to look outside of Las Vegas for a wide receiver upgrade.

Appearing on NFL Network on Sunday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that despite their best efforts, the Jets will most likely not be able to pry away Davante Adams from the Raiders.

“The Las Vegas Raiders, in win-now mode, are not in the business of giving away really good players. It is my understanding that Aaron Rodgers has been trying to recruit Davante Adams to the Jets,” said Rapoport.

“Remember, the Jets made a run at him this past year, and there was nothing there. They are expected to try again this offseason. From what I am told, the Raiders want to win, believe they can, and have zero plans to trade Davante Adams.”

Both aspects of this news should not be all that surprising to Jets fans. Rodgers, who had plenty of success with Adams in Green Bay, understands that the Jets need upgrades on offense and evidently sees his former teammate as one.

On the other side of the coin, Adams was an ardent public supporter of Antonio Pierce, who recently was promoted to the team’s full-time head coach. Las Vegas also has no real reason to tear everything down, considering their success under Pierce in the latter half of the season.

A lot can change in the coming months, but the Jets’ speculated number-one receiver target seems to be off the table for now.

How the Jets handle the position will be interesting, as they also have to upgrade a barren offensive line significantly this offseason.

The Jets and their front office are getting close to crunch time. Without Adams available, they will have to get creative in upgrading their wide receiver room, as if they don’t, the team will be in for another long season in 2024.
