The superstar cornerback responded on Twitter after the Bills’ Dion Dawkins mentioned the Jets in an interview
It might be the offseason, but the NFL and its rivalries never sleep.
Appearing on a VLAD TV interview, Buffalo Bills offensive tackle Dion Dawkins made it clear he is not a fan of the New York Jets’ defense. In reference to their last matchup, the veteran said that the Jets were “weirdos being weird” and spoke about the team as a whole.
“I’m a keep a buck. I hate them. All of them, bro. When it comes to sports, there are people who play the sport because they love the sport. There are people who play the sport to try to be cool. I feel like they play the sport to try to be cool. They are a bunch of dudes who just want to take pictures on Instagram. That’s wack,” Dawkins said.
In a since-deleted tweet responding to the interview, two-time All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner pointed out the irony of Dawkins’ comments. He also spoke about his perspective on why he plays the game and how he views “beef” in the NFL.
“I play this game because I love it, and it takes care of my family. It also gives me a platform to inspire the youth. I have no ‘NFL beef’ with anybody. I didn’t know that was a thing til I just watched this video,” said Gardner.

Evidently, no love is lost between these division rivals on or off the field. The Bills and Jets have played exciting and entertaining games against each other over the last two seasons, and as a result, the close matchups breed an extremely high level of competitiveness.
With Dawkins making it personal and taking shots at the whole Jets roster, the tension of the matchup between New York and Buffalo has a chance to reach new highs in 2024.
