The New York Jets are doing their due diligence on WR prospects

The New York Jets are continuing to look into the top receivers in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz reported that the Jets will host former Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze on a visit. The visit will be one of New York’s top 30 visits.

Like Marvin Harrison Jr. and Malik Nabers, Odunze is one of the most coveted wide receiver prospects in the upcoming draft class.

Odunze is a great route runner, able to create separation and find success on almost every type of play. According to Recepetion Perception, the Washington product had a positive success rate on every route in their database.

Odunze has been highly productive in the past two seasons, posting over 1,000 yards and at least seven touchdowns in each. His 2023 season was the best of his career, as he racked up 1,325 yards and 13 touchdowns. The yardage mark was fourth in all of the FBS, while his touchdown mark was sixth. Additionally, he had a 70.8% contested catch rate and 17 contested catches, which was tied for the most in college football. Odunze also added 390 yards after the catch.

With an all-around style that can win in every facet of the game, Odunze would be a great complement to Garrett Wilson and Mike Williams. He would force coverage away from Wilson, allowing more one-on-one matchups. Odunze would also be a second jump-ball threat alongside Williams, giving Aaron Rodgers a dynamic red-zone duo.

The Jets’ options in the draft are still wide open at multiple positions, but the addition of Odunze would benefit a team in a win-now window.
