Various Mets players showed off new New York Jets uniforms

The New York Jets are so proud of their new uniforms that they asked cross-sport New York teams to showcase them.

After the New York Mets defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates at Citi Field, 9-1, various Mets players held up jerseys from the Jets’ new uniforms.

Edwin Diaz rocks Sauce Gardner’s No. 1, while Brandon Nimmo sports Aaron Rodgers’ No. 8. The pairing of Diaz and Gardner seems fitting, as both are key stars for their respective teams.

In a more extended version, Harrison Bader also has Rodgers’ jersey, while Brett Baty holds Garrett Wilson’s new No. 5. Baty and Wilson are friends going back to middle school when Baty was the quarterback and Wilson transitioned to receiver because of his friend’s rocket arm. While Wilson has had incredible success in his first two NFL seasons, Baty struggled mightily as a rookie before getting off to a more promising start in 2024.

The Jets have been quite busy flaunting their new uniforms. After the reveal on April 15, their social media team pulled a prank on the players using the uniforms.

The Mets’ season got off to an ominous start, as they began 2024 with a five-game losing streak. However, they’ve been red-hot since, going 10-3 to improve their record to 10-8. Most recently, they swept the Pirates at home. They now head to Los Angeles to face the scuffling Dodgers.

The Jets hope that their season begins more auspiciously in September. Before that, though, they’ll need to ace the NFL Draft, coming April 25-27. They’ll hope to get as good of a player at No. 10 as they did in 2022 with Wilson.
