Sauce Gardner had some fun with the draft-day rumor mill by giving New York Jets fans a scare

It’s draft day, which means rumors (some legitimate, most not) will be flying around the internet at a non-stop pace until pick 32 is announced by Roger Goodell.

Ever the entertaining social media presence, New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner decided to poke fun at the draft-day rumor mill by giving Jets fans the scare of their lives. Taking to X, Gardner “reported” the following.

“Just got word that we’re drafting a DB or D-Lineman at pick 10. Can’t reveal my source at the moment,” Gardner posted.

This bombshell report is a total shock to Jets fans. For months, it was assumed that New York was targeting an offensive player, whether it be a wide receiver, offensive tackle, or tight end. But now, according to the esteemed 23-year-old reporter, it has been officially confirmed the Jets will add to their defense. It’s a shocking decision for a team that ranked 32nd in offensive DVOA and third in defensive DVOA during the 2023 season.

Obviously, Gardner is kidding around and knows absolutely nothing about who the Jets are planning to pick.

Or so we think. Is he trying to prepare Jets fans for what would be the most unanimously disliked selection in franchise history? It would be a nice gesture from the team’s superstar cornerback.

Nah. No way the Jets take a defender at No. 10.

Right? Right? (They’re not.)

Hold on tight, folks. We only have to deal with about 10 more hours of this. For now, I applaud Gardner for having some fun with a stressful moment for football fans.
