The New York Jets began rookie minicamp in Florham Park
The New York Jets began their rookie minicamp on Friday, May 3, one of five teams to do so. Over the three-day minicamp, the Jets’ draft picks, along with many undrafted free agents and minicamp invitees, will get a chance to show off their skills to their new coaches.
The headliner of the day is Olu “Big Olu” Fashanu, the Jets’ first-round pick selected at No. 11 overall. Fashanu dons No. 74, the same number he wore at Penn State.

The other name of note for the Jets is Malachi Corley, their third-round pick whom they reportedly had as the fourth-ranked receiver on their draft board. According to Robby Sabo, Corley “looks the part” early in minicamp. He wears No. 17, taking over from Garrett Wilson, who switched to No. 5.
Jordan Travis, the fifth-round quarterback who suffered a gruesome leg injury at FSU, was rehabbing on the exercise bike. Joe Douglas indicated that the team expects to have him back “at some point” but did not elaborate.
Malachi Corley, No. 17, is sort of “put together.” He certainly looks the part. #Jets

The full list of rookies at minicamp is a lot longer than just the Jets’ draft picks. In 2023, Xavier Gipson and Jason Brownlee made the team as undrafted free agents. 2022 UDFA Tony Adams is now the team’s starting free safety. Defensive tackle Leonard Taylor seems to have the best chance to follow in their footsteps, as he was a projected fourth-round pick.
