One of the New York Jets’ best players is making it known that he is ready to improve his game even more.

Speaking at his Tuesday media availability, cornerback Sauce Gardner said he is looking forward to “the challenge” of shadowing receivers in 2024.

“I’m always looking forward to the challenge. I would like to call myself one of the best (cornerbacks) in the game, if not the best. I’m always open to competing and want to challenge myself and others. But ultimately, I want to do whatever it takes for the team to win.”

Gardner said that he is trying not to “get complacent” and is always searching for ways to improve his strengths and sharpen any weaknesses.

Regarding his teammate Garrett Wilson, Gardner said he “looks better” in the No. 5 jersey and is a “dog.”

“I feel like he’s one of the best, if not the best, wide receivers in the league. This year, he’s going to be able to show why he is the best. And this is coming from someone who goes up against him every day. We challenge each other, and honestly, we both grow together. ”

Gardner said that “nothing is going to stop” quarterback Aaron Rodgers and that he is the same player after the Achilles injury. He also spoke about the team’s overall expectations, saying that he believes the Jets could win a championship.

“I feel like we could win a championship, you know, Super Bowl. We got the guys, we got the coaches, we got everything we need. The training staff, everything that it takes for us to be able to get to where we want to get to.”

Despite all of the success, Gardner is still striving to be an even better cornerback for the Jets. He is evidently not satisfied and is willing to put in the work to elevate his game.
