The NFL still views Aaron Rodgers as a top quarterback.

In ESPN’s rankings from a poll of more than 80 executives, coaches, and scouts, the New York Jets’ starting quarterback was ranked as the eighth-best quarterback in the league. He slotted in ahead of Jared Goff and was one spot behind the Texans’ C.J. Stroud, who voiced some interesting opinions on Rodgers this offseason.

In the article, Jeremy Fowler provided a quote from an AFC executive about Rodgers’ standing in the NFL’s quarterback pantheon.

“He’s probably fringe top 10 at this point, but he still has the rare ability to throw the football. That hasn’t gone away. I think he’s got a major opportunity to lift the Jets and show what he can still do.”

Fowler added, “While Rodgers appeared on fewer than 60% of the ballots, nearly half of those ballots placed Rodgers in the top five. Quarterback purists still love him.”

Rodgers still has the ability to be one of the best quarterbacks in the league. He is cerebral before the snap, using his experience and knowledge to dissect a defense. In the heat of the action, the future Hall-of-Famer has a lightning-quick release and the arm strength to hit any throw on the field.

Ultimately, it all comes down to Rodgers’s ability to stay on the field. He is coming off a severe injury and has dealt with other injuries in years past.

The Jets need Rodgers at his best and healthiest. If he can accomplish that, the quarterback will likely show why he is still one of the best in the NFL.
