The New York Jets continue bringing team alumni to training camp

A former New York Jets wide receiver will be in attendance at the team’s Saturday practice.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Braylon Edwards said he would return to Florham Park on Saturday for the team’s training camp practice.

“Guess who’s back in Florham Park @nyjets nation….can not wait to watch the 2024 AFC East winners tomorrow in practice!”

Edwards, who arrived to the team midway through the 2009 season, was involved in New York’s last two playoff runs. In two seasons, he had 1,584 yards, 78 first downs, and 11 touchdowns. In six playoff games, Edwards added 15 receptions for 320 yards and two touchdowns.

Seeing the wideout’s confidence in the latest iteration of the Jets is positive. Edwards is evidently excited to watch a team that he predicts to be division champions.

The longtime receiver’s thinking is not off-base. The Jets have the offensive talent to elevate their unit to one of the best in the league, mainly due to Aaron Rodgers, an improved offensive line, and weapons like Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson.

Despite losing some talent up front, the defense has the foundation of a championship-winning unit. New York has a talented front seven and arguably the league’s best linebacker and cornerback units.

To win the AFC East, though, the Jets must execute on the field. They have to perform better than any previous iteration of the team dating back to 2010, the last time the organization made the playoffs.

Edwards will see the foundation of that progress firsthand, and hopefully, his sentiments will remain the same after the practice.
