Sauce Gardner represents the New York Jets well in latest “Madden” ratings reveal

Sauce Gardner is at the mountaintop of NFL cornerbacks, and the NFL’s official video game seems to agree.

In the newly released ratings for “Madden NFL 25,” the New York Jets’ star cornerback ranked as the top cornerback in the game. With a 97 overall rating, he edged out the Miami Dolphins’ Jalen Ramsey and the Dever Broncos’ Patrick Surtain, who rounded out the top three.

There are many highly talented cornerbacks in the NFL. You could make a case for Gardner, Surtain, or even someone like Ramsey or Jaire Alexander to be the game’s best.

However, it is good to see Gardner get his well-deserved recognition. The second-year cornerback has been extremely impressive throughout his short career. He displays excellent technique in pass coverage, mirroring wide receivers while displaying upper-tier athleticism and hand placement. Additionally, he has shown a willingness to contribute to the run defense by coming downhill to make tackles.

More importantly, the Cinncinati product has shown a drive and attitude unmatched by most. He has repeatedly spoken about improving his game and not resting on his laurels. Namely, the two-time All-Pro has talked about being more of a leader for the team in 2024.

Some outlets have doubted Gardner, most recently the anonymous scout in ESPN’s cornerback rankings. Fans on social media often spew vastly uninformed takes surrounding him.

But based on the beginning of the cornerback’s career, those betting on success will likely win, and EA would fall squarely into that category due to their Madden rating of Gardner.
