One of the New York Jets’ main special teams contributors is ensuring all of his production goes toward a great cause.

Appearing on “The Jets Connection,” punter Thomas Morstead spoke in-depth about his “Punt for ALS” campaign for the 2024 season. He dove into what made him want to start this process in the 2024 season.

“It’s been something that I’ve wanted to do for a little bit. The fact that the Super Bowl is in New Orleans this year, which is where Team Gleason originated, kind of got me thinking about what we could do. And obviously, the team has high expectations this year.”

Morstead also mentioned his specific contribution to “Punt for ALS” in 2024.

“Basically, I am donating $1,000 to Team Gleason for every punt we down inside the 20 this season. It’s my way of giving back to Team Gleason and Steve Gleason while also showing fans I have some skin in the game myself. This is important to me…The real idea is to raise awareness about what Team Gleason does.”

The punter spoke about previous experiences with Team Gleason, which included connecting his first-ever football coach to the organization in what he considered “a real blessing” for the family.

“That was one of many instances where I have watched them do something up close and personal. I was like, wow, they are really making a difference. It was meaningful to me at the time and had a big impact on me. Again, this is reason 1,000 for wanting to do something to give back to Steve and Team Gleason. ”

As talented as Morstead has been on the field for the Jets, his new campaign is arguably better than any of those contributions. The punter understands the power of his platform and is working to ensure that it is known to both Jets fans and all the away fans of the teams the Jets face.

There were plenty of reasons to expect the Jets to succeed in 2024. With Morstead’s campaign, there is another legitimate reason to wish the team success in all facets of the game.
