McDonald’s promo goes haywire due to New York Jets dominance

A promo went haywire during the last New York Jets preseason game due to the team’s impressive on-field production.

Fast food chain McDonald’s partnered with the Jets to give away a free Big Mac with a $2 minimum purchase. The qualifier? New York had to sack the quarterback. Overall, it was a pretty straightforward promotion.

However, the Jets broke the system with their performance against the cross-town rival Giants.

Led by Leonard Taylor, Takk McKinley, and Braiden McGregor, the Jets racked up eight sacks. They consistently blew past and through the Giants’ offensive line, creating havoc in the backfield.

For the promotion, the Jets won fans eight (!) Big Macs. Yes, fans could now go to McDonald’s and get eight free signature hamburgers.

Now, I am no health expert, but I would not recommend taking up the full fruits of the defensive line’s labor. One, or even two, Big Macs are not the healthiest options, but that amount could be considered very filling. Anything beyond that, and you are likely venturing into territory that may not be suitable.

It will be interesting to see if the Jets continue the promo into the regular season. The team has a very talented defense, and once Haason Reddick reports, they will have the chance to rack up a good amount of sacks.

McDonald’s is likely happy that their promo worked in its intended format. Yet, they could be playing with fire by running it with a Jets’ defensive line that could run up the sack counter in 2024.
