Nick Bosa threw some shade at the New York Jets after his team’s 32-19 win to open the season.

While speaking about facing the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2, the San Francisco 49ers star appeared to slight the Jets in the process.

“This week, I honestly think we’re playing a better team,” said Bosa. “It looks like they’re playing better football. They run the ball well. We’re going to have to be better in our techniques. We got away with some things last week, so we have to hone in and not pat ourselves on the back.”

On one hand, it is surprising to see Bosa talk down on the Jets to this extent. It is rare for a player to put down their opposition after a game. In Bosa’s case, it is interesting that he talked poorly about a team coached by his former defensive coordinator in Robert Saleh.

However, Bosa’s comments make sense based on New York’s disappointing performance in Week 1.

The Jets are representative of a classic adage at this moment in time. They have, metaphorically and literally, talked the talk. Now, they have to walk the walk. While it is a long season and the Jets have a talented roster, they have not yet proven that they are ready to play at the highest level of football.

There is ample opportunity for the Jets to turn their season around; after all, they have only played one game. Starting with the Titans this week, the Jets can flip the narrative and prove they are a good football team that can win plenty of games in 2024.
