Former New York Giants running back Tiki Barber was brutally honest with New York Jets fans on his WFAN radio show this week. Following a tough Week 1 loss to the San Fransisco 49ers on Monday Night Football, Barber called the Jets fans “very lazy” when evaluating talent on the team’s roster.
Barber stated, “They kept saying, ‘We have great talent; so much talent. Blah, blah, blah. So much talent.’ First of all, Tyron Smith is 37 years old, whatever he is. Their wide receiver room is Garrett Wilson, and that’s it.”

The former three-time Pro Bowler did not stop there as he added, “If you’re talking about how much talent this team has, and that’s all Jets fans wanted to talk about, you better be a star. I’m not saying like a superstar, but you better be a star. Your running back room is Breece Hall; he could be a superstar. Your offensive line is an old Tyron Smith And Morgan Moses. I can’t really evaluate him. So where is this stud, best offense in football? It’s just not there.”

Barber later mentioned that Aaron Rodgers and several solid players on defense don’t make the Jets a talented team, stating, “You have a great quarterback, and we saw it for a drive, but that’s not making it one of the best rosters in football. And then you look at the defensive side of the football. Quinnen Williams is obviously a stud, but what can you do when you’re just one guy in the middle? Sauce Gardner got hurt, and the rest of your secondary was sketchy.”
Barber concluded his rant by going after Jet fans, stating, “I’m just telling you these people that are lazy wanted to tell you that this roster looks great. Maybe because you know every name, it sounds great, but you gotta prove it. You gotta do it consistently to be called a ‘great, top of the world roster.'”
The former running-back is clearly not fond of the Jets roster and their fans. If the Jets want to prove Barber wrong after a tough Week 1 loss, they must demonstrate why they are contenders for the Lombardi Trophy throughout the regular season, starting this Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.
