Following their season-opening loss to the San Francisco 49ers, the New York Jets are looking to pick up their first win of the season this week in Nashville, Tennessee, as they face off against the Titans.
While speaking to the media ahead of Sunday’s game, Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner had high praise for the Titans’ wide receiver room, even mentioning that Calvin Ridley was his favorite receiver to watch when he played the position in high school.

“They have a group of really good receivers that all pose their very own problems,” Gardner said of the Titans’ wide receivers. “Calvin Ridley was my favorite receiver in high school when I used to play receiver. They have D-Hop, Treylon Burks, Tyler Boyd, and [Nick] Westbrook. They have a ton of weapons around [Will] Levis that he can throw to, and that can really elevate him.”
Although Gardner will be lining up against these receivers, it’s always refreshing to see a star like Gardner acknowledge the talent of his opponents.
Despite having a very talented receiving room that includes three former 1,000-yard receivers, the Titans’ passing game struggled in the team’s Week 1 loss. In a 24-17 defeat, the Titans finished with just 104 passing yards, a big reason why they surrendered a 17-point lead to the Chicago Bears despite Chicago failing to score an offensive touchdown.
After struggling against the 49ers’ elite offense in Week 1, the Jets’ defense has a good opportunity to keep second-year quarterback Will Levis and the Titans offense at bay during Sunday’s matchup. Tennessee’s offense was quieted by Chicago’s defense in Week 1, finishing with 244 yards of offense and 3 turnovers.
With both teams looking to get themselves in the win column this weekend, the Jets are 3.5-point favorites, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.
