The long and drawn-out saga between Haason Reddick and the New York Jets may soon reach a conclusion.

According to Jordan Schultz, the star edge rusher has been given permission by the team to seek a trade. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini added that Reddick’s representation has a short window to do so and has reached out to multiple teams over the past 12 hours to gauge interest.

Additionally, Josina Anderson detailed a specific condition that will occur for the Jets if they attempt to trade Reddick to an NFC team.

I’m told the Eagles will get a 2026 2nd-round pick from the Jets if Haason Reddick gets traded to an NFC team, per multiple sources. That’s the other ‘condition’ involved in the trade for Reddick to the Jets that was newly reported in the tweet below two weeks ago.”

From the start to its possible conclusion, the Reddick saga has been a disaster for everyone involved.

Even if you do not include how the Jets arrived here and handled the Bryce Huff situation, they should never have added Reddick without the contract set in stone. With the type of draft capital given up, that aspect of the deal should have been handled first.

Reddick is also majorly at fault for the situation reaching this point. By not even reporting to the building, the edge rusher stymied any potential solution or agreement for both sides. Additionally, the lack of response to his previous representation made things potentially unsalvageable.

Whether it is through a trade or a reconciliation, the Reddick saga is seemingly approaching its twilight. Once it finally reaches a conclusion, it will be a very interesting time period to revisit in the grand scheme of the 2024 season.
