The New York Jets’ dynamic duo addressed the media in the same building for the first time today.

During his media availability as a Jet, Davante Adams said that the past few weeks have “been a roller-coaster” but that he was happy to be back with Rodgers. He said that he and the Raiders are in a better place.

The star wideout also spoke about how Rodgers has helped him and why he values his relationship with the quarterback.

“It’s great just being back, being able to be with my guy, like first and foremost, just being able to spend time with him every day again is something that I put a lot of value on. So just having his company, but obviously having him as my quarterback again,” said Adams.

“I mean, he was part of why I am who I am and why I turned into the player, whether it’s the cerebral approach, the attention to detail, or just learning from him. Watching him operate and just seeing how dialed in he is at all times, I feel like that has a lot to do with how I ultimately ended up being, how I function the way I do as a player. So it’s it’s a good deal.”

During his availability, Rodgers detailed the whirlwind of events that ultimately led to Adams arriving in New York and how he is being incorporated into the offense.

“It was frustrating Monday night, but it was a really mellifluous moment call to hear his voice Monday night, well, Tuesday morning because it was almost one o’clock, and I got to see him on Tuesday. He is staying with me for the short term, so we went right into some of the signals. He was about 95 percent, and he knows kind of the original to the second iteration, to the third, and on down.

“His knowledge of the game is pretty extensive, and obviously, it looks like he drank the elixir from the fountain of youth. We went back and watched some old 2014 stuff from when he was a rookie today…it has been strange, but really fun to see my friend.”

Rodgers also discussed how it felt to have Adams back with him on a team once again.

“It’s very surreal. He sat next to me in the team meeting today, and I turned to him and just said, man, how crazy is this? Something that when we get together in the offseasons, we joke about, but it never seemed like a possibility or going to happen, so it’s good to be with him,” said Rodgers.

“He has a presence about him that’s palpable when he steps onto the walkthrough field, a practice field or in a meeting. Obviously, he brings clout and accolades from somebody who’s been at the zenith of his profession. It’s really, really fun to have him, but also from a friend level, just to be able to catch up and talk to him about his kids and wife and Vegas and all the things he’s been through.”

The quarterback, when asked about if he and Adams will click right away again, said that is what he “expects” and plans to rely on their past experiences together.

“We have a lot of memories to call upon. He has an incredible recall. We were just talking and reminiscing about certain plays over the eight years we played together. I mean, we could literally watch a highlight clip, and both of us know not only the game but also the play, situation, and the thoughts that were behind it, and maybe a conversation that happened. That’s a gift. We have years of good plays to recall, but we have to get him up to speed on the verbiage and some of the new signals and route concepts that we run.”

In a vacuum, it is very exciting that Rodgers and Adams will showcase their connection again in the NFL. They were a borderline unstoppable force in Green Bay, and the duo likely hopes to pick up where they left off in New York.

At 2-4 on the season, though, there will not be much time for many road bumps. Adams and Rodgers must immediately click and resume their assault on the league. If they do, the Jets’ offense could become one of the most threatening units in the NFL.
