Is Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey preparing to draft a tight end? Apparently so, as a recent report reveals the New York Jets are “infatuated” with Tyler Warren.
In his latest mock draft, Sportskeeda’s Tony Pauline mocked Warren to the Jets with the seventh overall pick, expressing the team’s interest in the 22-year-old. Pauline went on to detail that the organization is “infatuated” with the Penn State stud tight end and is trying to set up multiple meetings.
“I loathe making this pick considering the other options available, but everything I heard points to the Jets being infatuated with Warren to the point they are trying to set up multiple meetings with the tight end,” Pauline wrote.
Warren, 22, is widely regarded as the top tight end in this offseason’s NFL draft. The Nittany Lion spent five seasons in Happy Valley (2020-2024), including a redshirt year in 2020.
Appearing in 56 collegiate games, Warren logged 159 receptions for 1,839 yards and 19 touchdowns.
In 2024, Warren ranked second among qualified tight ends (25 plus targets) with 19 missed tackles and third in contested catches (13).
Coupled with his pass-catching ability, Warren is also an outstanding blocker.
With Tyler Conklin landing in Los Angeles with the Chargers and Kenny Yeboah signing with the Detroit Lions, the Jets tight end room is very barron, consisting of only Stone Smartt, Jeremy Ruckert, and Zack Kuntz.
Warren would not only be a reliable pass-catcher and red zone target for quarterback Justin Fields, but he would also help unlock the Jets’ running game, which struggled mightily last season.
With a glaring need at tight end, this connection makes all the sense in the world. It’s especially the case if the New York Jets are “infatuated” with Tyler Warren. Darren Mougey is slated to pick No. 7 in the 2025 NFL draft.
