With Greg Zuerlein coming off a rough season and Anders Carlson in the mix, the New York Jets are still exploring their kicker options ahead of the 2025 season.

According to KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson, the Jets worked out kicker Michael Badgley on Monday.

Badgley, 29, first signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent following the 2018 draft before being waived by Indy as part of final roster cuts. He then signed with the Los Angeles Chargers in October 2018.

Badgley served as the Chargers’ main kicker for three seasons (2018-2020). He appeared in 34 games for Los Angeles and converted 52 of his 65 field goal attempts (80%), including a long of 59 yards. The Miami product also knocked through 82 of his 86 extra-point attempts (95.3%).

Badgley has bounced around since his time with the Chargers. He played one game for the Tennessee Titans in 2021, missing his only field goal attempt and one of his two extra points. He was waived by Tennessee after the season opener and landed with the Colts, where he played 12 games. With Indy, Bagley made 18 of 21 field goals (85.7%) and all 39 of his extra point attempts.

In 2022, the former Charger appeared in one game for the Chicago Bears and 12 games for the Detroit Lions. Over the whole season, Badgley made 24 of his 28 field goal attempts (85.7%), along with all 33 of his extra-point attempts.

In 2023, Badgley appeared in four games for the Lions and converted all four of his field goal attempts to go along with 13 of 15 extra-point attempts (86.7%).

After suffering a torn hamstring during training camp last summer, Badgley was placed on season-ending injured reserve.

Badgley hopes to revive his career with a fresh start in 2025, perhaps with Gang Green.
