Offseason activities are underway for the New York Jets under first-year head coach Aaron Glenn. A new era of the organization has begun, and the fanbase should be thrilled for that new time period.
Whether it’s the introduction of a new offense led by former first-round pick Justin Fields or the concept of a new structure on how to do things, the Jets are trying something new under Glenn.
And that’s got the Jets in the right mindset for the first time in years.
Aaron Glenn Has Jets Thinking Right Way
New York began the first offseason of the Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey era with small-term free agent agreements and no major splashes.
That was by design.
As Glenn described it, the team wanted to operate in silence.
“I’m just a huge believer in just moving in silence and you let things play out the way they need to play out. I think our staff has done a really good job of that just overall. Let’s just make the moves we need to make. This doesn’t need to be a big hoopla with what we’re doing,” Glenn said.
“We’re just going to go about our business and coach these players and try to create an atmosphere for the players that’s totally different than what they’ve probably been used to.”
As the offseason workouts begin, the first phase consists of conditioning more than anything else.
That’s perfectly fine for Glenn’s staff. The focus for the team isn’t about rebuilding the team right away but taking it one day at a time, and eventually, the results will show.
“It’s a process. I’ve talked to our staff about this. I’m not here to talk about the Super Bowl, I’m not here to talk about the playoffs or any of that when the players first get in. To me, it’s the process of actually making it to that point,” Glenn said via Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic. “Two things I want to make sure that we do first and foremost is establish a culture that we’ve been talking about and trying to build an environment.”
Time will tell if Glenn will work out in New York. But he’s got the right mindset moving forward for the organization that shows
